Full Moon at 2° Sagittarius on May 23rd at 7:53 AM MST
Sabian Symbol: Two men playing chess
The Full Moon in Sagittarius is going to expand our horizons and make us hungry for intellectual growth. It won’t be as explosive as the last couple of lunations, but there is wisdom to be gained from it. This Full Moon is also infused with an abundance of luck due to the Jupiterian influence coming from all directions and after a Jupiter-fueled few weeks.
Before we get to the good news, there are two heavier aspects weighing on the Full Moon: the trine from Pluto to the Sun and the sextile from Pluto to the Moon. These are both favorable aspects in general, but I think Pluto’s influence will add too much intensity if left unchecked. The sextile from the Moon is over-eager with a desire to plum the depths of every connection we have; and while this desire for profound connection is well-meaning, if we follow this impulse without any degree of caution we could end up coming on strong. This is a reminder that, while we should always process our emotions rather than suppress them, we cannot burden anyone else with the feelings. Keep obsessive compulsions in check.
At the same time, the Sun is applying a trine to Pluto which is going to tempt us into getting caught up in power struggles. The power of Pluto and the ease of the trine is going to make us feel invincible, but we must resist the urge to fly too close to the Sun. Gambling with the wins you’ve already received is a dangerous game. Again, the theme is practicing caution and a certain amount of reservation with our ambitions today. It’s good to go after the things we want—and the nature of this aspect can ultimately give us a lot of success—but goals are best achieved through strategic thinking. The lunacy of the Full Moon is going to make us feel crazy and lead us toward taking risks. Leverage this energy for dreaming up your wildest dreams, but don’t try to act on them at this time.
To offset this weird drama in the corner, Jupiter and Venus are conjunct at 29° Taurus during this Full Moon. This is auspicious for a number of reasons: Jupiter and Venus are the two Benefics of the sky—they are the planets of love, beauty, wealth, abundance, expansion, and joviality, their conjunction signals a celebratory mood and a good time for having fun and letting go of any negativity plaguing us. The sign of Taurus is Venus’ domicile, so it’s as though Venus were throwing a going away party for Jupiter at her lavish mansion and the good vibes are contagious. And finally, 29° is the anaretic degree. It’s a degree where an exceptional amount of Taurean energy is concentrated. Jupiter is about to leave Taurus and ingress into Gemini, the sign of his detriment, and so it’s a big deal for him to take up all the lush, sensual, feel-good energy before his journey. We are all invited to bask in this epic moment of glory and boundlessness before we hit some choppy turbulence (but with all the aforementioned caveats). Be optimistic about the future, but don’t get carried away thinking the abundance tap is always going to be turned on and flowing. Experience the good times in the moment, but be sure to commit how optimistic you feel to memory so that you can use this positivity to structure an enduring mindset when we meet challenges in the coming weeks and months.
This Full Moon is going to be fiery explosion of adventurous energy. It is also a lunation ruled by Jupiter, whose condition we just discussed above. It’s going to feel indulgent and liberating, and we should lean into these exciting feelings. Set yourself aflame (not literally) with the joy of life and light up the sky. Take care not to burn out too quickly, and make provisions so that your light will remain strong and bright to illuminate your path when everything gets dark.
Thank you Queen 🙏
