Did you know… Each song on the Lunar News playlist is a horoscope for each of the zodiac signs, in order…
Libra Moons are always tender. Libra craves social affability, relational harmony & balance, and sweet affection between lovers and friends. The full Moon in Libra will bring a lot of action in these areas to the fore and, typically, such intense energy around our partnerships is released in pleasant catharses. There are some bittersweet celestial stirrings during this full Moon that will probably make this frenzied moment a little more painful than we’d like.
The Moon in Libra is opposing the Sun in Aries, and the Sun in Aries is conjunct Chiron, the asteroid that, in astrology, represents the archetype of the Wounded Healer. In mythology, Chiron is an accomplished and knowledgeable centaur—knowledgeable, particularly, in the medicinal and healing arts. He is immortal, but after he is pierced with a poisoned arrow, he, ironically, cannot heal himself and decides to give up his immortality rather than suffer the wound. Carl Jung went on to coin the “wounded healer” archetype from the Chiron myth. According to him, the Wounded Healer is the doctor or analyst whose desire to heal comes from a desire to understand and heal his own pain. If you have ever experienced the phenomenon whereby you give great advice to other people who are going through the same dilemmas or struggles you are also suffering, yet you struggle to listen to your own advice—I.E. struggle to take your own medicine—that is the Wounded Healer at work in your life.
Chiron transits and aspects highlight our open wounds that we cannot heal ourselves, even though we might have all the knowledge and tools at our disposal. Major transits like this full Moon conjunct and opposing Chiron will trigger our pain points around independence and co-dependence and individuality and partnership. The Moon in Libra opposing Chiron is telling us that the only way to heal our deepest wounds around love and trust and worthiness is through vulnerable relationships with other people; the Sun in Aries conjunct Chiron is saying the opposite: that we only have ourselves to rely on at the end of the day and it’s our responsibility to dress our own wounds in order to have functioning relationships. Our job, as always with full Moon polarities, is to find the synthesis of these two lessons. Either of these can be exaggerated—for example, when we learn that we have to be accountable for healing ourselves and metabolizing our suffering into wisdom, this can easily slip into a “spiritual bypassing” territory whereby we convince ourselves that becoming healed means being immune to future pain. Taking responsibility for ourselves does not mean we eliminate suffering through relentless optimism. Healed wounds are lessons in caring for ourselves; it’s not a bandage that protects us from future damage, but rather a wisdom in how to manage it when it (inevitably) happens again. Living by the principle that your frame of mind controls everything external to you is great until other people harm you, or extenuating circumstances create setbacks and challenges in your life. If you start to take responsibility for everything that happens to you, then it absolves other people from their transgressions against you. It also doesn’t allow you to adapt to the cold reality of every day life. Life is painful, suffering exists, but the profound beauty is the resilience we gain from facing these challenges and the growing depth of our capacity for compassion toward ourselves and others. Being vulnerable to this pain is not a weakness.
Adding to this drama is the full Moon is ruled by Venus, who is—at the time of the syzygy—still retrograde in Pisces and conjunct Saturn. Venus is still in the underworld in the company of one of the most formidable planets and she has to make sure the Moon does what she needs to do for this lunation. Everything is flavored with this austere and broken energy. Saturn was here to meet Venus as she traveled back into Pisces and made her keenly aware of her limits—for us Earthside, we became aware of the necessary boundaries and limits we have to enact in order to either carry our relationships forward or end them once and for all. Sometimes we let down our guard or relax our boundaries because we crave closeness. One of the more bitter lessons to learn here with this Venus dispositorship is that doing this actually harms a relationship more than helps it. It’s not exactly intuitive, nor is it easy to follow through on, but it is necessary to keep up those security measures to protect ourselves and thus our connections. Sacred reconnection is not possible without understanding whether someone will respect your boundaries enough to earn your trust so that you relax them.
Good luck and don’t flee from your pain.
Lunar Cycle Transits
April 16: Mercury ingress into Aries
We (re)enter a season of deeper clarity in our self-expression. As Mercury changes signs and regains his speed, things will feel like they are accelerating and things fall into place to move our lives forward. The reflective mood of the retrograde is dissipating and it’s time to move on.
Mercury conjunct Neptune
Today is a great day to get in over your head with your wildest dreams and figuring out how to shape them into tangible realities. It is not a great day to try to communicate with other people, however. Neptune transits are useful for projection, and so, when we are attempting to project ideas from our consciousness onto the external world to form our reality, we can make use of this transit to support that goal. Projection is not so great when we are trying to handle (mis)communications with other people. We must be careful to 1) not project our own inner thoughts onto what others are saying to us and 2) mind what we say so that other people cannot twist our words later on. I honestly think it’s better to just remain silent during these types of Mercury-Neptune transits. Heed the messages the universe is trying to give you through your daydreams and write them down in a private place. Let the creativity simmer and mull over these dreamy inspirations.
If you do find yourself having strange interactions, or verbal conflicts, with people, it’s useful to stay grounded and mindful of the fact that your own mind is often the most elaborate deceiver. On this day our imaginations can get the best of us, so don’t let yourself get carried away.
April 18: Saturn conjunct the North Node
Today we meet significant restrictions that will impact our destiny in some way. Things will feel harsh and dramatic for a few days before and after this conjunction perfects. It is important not to cling to anything, because the harder we grip, the worse it’s going to feel when it’s pulled away from us. Something important to remember here is that you cannot lose anything that is meant to stay in your life, and you cannot keep what is not meant to stay.
Mars ingress into Leo
Thank God, honestly.
Mars’ long march backward and forward through Cancer is finally over. Ideally, the passive aggressive petty behaviors will start fading away and we’ll be facing conflicts and challenges directly and courageously.
April 19: Sun ingress into Taurus
And just like that, a new solar season is upon us. It’s time to settle into the bliss of spring time, or the quiet contentment of autumn for the southern hemisphere. Taurus season is luxurious and relaxing, it invites us to become more embodied and focus on our sensuality. Prioritizing physical health is going to be important at this time, especially as we prepare for some difficult Pluto and Uranus transits ahead.
April 20: Sun square Mars
The rougher side of Taurus season comes out today with this square. Taurus, the stubborn bull, can be aggressive and impatient. The Sun in Taurus squaring Mars in Leo is making us want to stir the pot and pick fights. Be mindful of how your motivations might be rooted in meaningless pursuits of the ego. This kind of hubris is going to be your downfall, should you decide to get into a conflict against your better judgement. Watch out for impatience and don’t get too frustrated, instead focus on the creativity of improvisation and find the joy in the challenge.
April 21: Venus conjunct Saturn and the North Node
These three points have all been within a close orb of each other for a few weeks at this point, but today is the day their triple conjunction perfects with Venus. Venus adds, of course, the relationship flavor to this fated restriction we have been feeling from Saturn and Rahu connecting earlier in the week. Do your best not to fight against whatever is taking shape at this time.
April 26: Mars opposing Pluto
Interpersonal power struggles are going to come to a head with this transit. If you want to engage in a battle with another person, make sure you have either the stamina and strength to win, or an effective support system to assist you after you’ve lost. After this opposition is over, there will be a clear winner and loser. My advice is instead of engaging in angry conflict, use the surge of energy you might feel toward fighting and put it toward internal transformation.
