Full Moon at 5° Virgo, February 24, 2024, 5:31 AM MST.
Sabian Symbol: A merry-go-round
Today’s Full Moon is chaotic, harsh, but still dreamy. We can expect to feel drained by the end of the weekend. We are feeling caught between wanting to say what’s on our mind, but losing our nerve. Some things don’t need to be said, others must be.
The Moon—a woman sensual and nurturing, ready to love and be loved—moves into Virgo and starts to overthink everything she’s ever said or done in recent memory. Her first instinct is to look to the ruler of Virgo for reassurance and guidance, but unfortunately that’s Mercury, who she will be opposing in the sign of his exile Pisces. This initial opposition that kicks off the Full Moon festivities is confusing. We might feel afraid to speak up about what we’re feeling, or second guessing ourselves, and this is proving difficult for self-expression. It’s a stifling moment and we may end up frustrated because of miscommunication, crossed wires, or not feeling heard. It’s important to go slow with words during this lunation, and, really, for the duration of Mercury’s transit through Pisces. There’s consequences to our words, which cannot be taken back, but then there are also consequences when we fail to use our words. Discernment is the key here.
The Full Moon happening right after this Mercurial Madness will have us indulging all of our most neurotic behaviors. With so much on our minds we are more likely to have racing thoughts looping round and round making us go mad. If you’re unable to get all your thoughts out verbally to someone else, then writing might help process things. It’s an uncomfortable Full Moon because the Sun is wanting to enjoy the easy sensuality of Pisces, while the Moon is frantic and distracted in Virgo. This lunation is not devoid of beauty, though. When their opposition finally does perfect and they are staring across the zodiac at each other, there will be relief for a moment. A perfect union of the imaginative with the pragmatic.
The bliss quickly turns sour again with the Moon’s opposition to Saturn in Pisces. It’s going to be a harsh wake up call back to reality. These are the delayed consequences of whatever did or did not get said earlier in the day on the 24th. Saturn’s lesson is always About Time and he makes sure we always get what’s coming our way—this can be punishment or reward.
Jupiter and Venus are having an interesting interaction today, squaring each other in Taurus and Aquarius, respectively. Earlier in the week Venus and Mars met up to start over and initiate an entirely new cycle in our relationships. Venus is having a tearful goodbye with Mars, but she is being reminded by Jupiter that she’s loved before and she’ll love again. This square adds to the high stakes dynamic of the Full Moon by amplifying this idea of great risk, great loss, great reward. There’s a feeling that we are being swept up in many fated connections (or missed connections) at this time and we have little control over the Rube Goldberg Machine of the universe. While it’s true that our illusion of control is exaggerated, it’s also true that our actions play a bigger role in the mysterious workings of the world than we might be aware. We are invited to use this Full Moon to make a key decision in communication, or expression. Consider carefully what you need to say, but take caution with how you use your words.
